Macalla best - Posted by clannadfreak
I think Clannads greatest album was 1986's Macalla. I just feel it was a very strong collection of songs with Ciaran and Pol both contributing some of their best songs ever like 'In a Lifetime' and 'Northern Skyline'. To me this album was the peak of Clannads' modern sound- but who knows, maybe they'll top it with their next album (which we are all waiting for in great anticipation!).

Atlantic Realm - Posted by MacKozer
This is one of my favourite Clannad albums. The music from that album was a soundtrack to my many trips to Scotland, especially to Outer and Inner Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland Islands.
I remember to listing to it while on the way from Oban to Lochboisdale on South Uist, sitting on the ferry board during the storm. It was very magic experience :)

old albums - Posted by ainhoa
I love all of Clannad but I prefer the old albums: Clannad, the first one, is for me the best. And Dulaman, Clannad 2, although Sirius is great too. ¿?
Slan!

Favorite Album..... - Posted by Clannad_Fan
Just wanted to do a post and see what albums everyone likes. If you cannot choose one, that's cool. I have to admit that I would have a hard time picking just one album that I like too. I like Lore and the album that they did with music from the Robin of Sherwood series. Saw that one on PBS a long time back. Aired in Arkansas on AETN at one time. It's been a while since I've seen it. Look forward to hearing everyone's posts. Thanks.

Clannad and Macalla - Posted by mccphys
I heard of Clannad by way of Moire Brennan's solo releases and have since kept a lookout for any of their albums and am blessed to have found the one of recordings from their 1978 Swiss tour and Macalla, the latter being my favorite of the two. Great to be in the Forum and look forward to hearing from you all.

my favourite album - Posted by twigz
My favourite album is well was magical realm and also banba.I had all of clannads albums and bought them when I could but dadly when I was moving all of them were lost and have never been able to recover them, even my tapes and the few cds that I had,as I always had the tape and vinyal versions. All this aside Mystical realm was so touching and when I was in the lake district on one occasion canoeing and walking I had ot on my then walkman yes it was ages ago,but the lake district came to life and it was so magical to walk where others had gone before, and listen to this was totally wonderful,I was ill at the time as well and I came home feeling so much better,I may not have the music now but I can hear it and it filled my soul so many years ago and I love clannad to bits, and always will.

My next Clannad album - Posted by rhauck
I love my one and only Clannad album, bought almost by accident, and cherished above all others. I want to get another, and I am looking for advice.
What I like best is the traditional sound. A couple songs on my album include parts that are more or less modern, with the electric guitar etc. It is well done, but it is not my preference. Everything else about the group I love. My album is called something like 'roots' and has a prifile of a pretty lady's face, in black and white.
Please tell me which albums you think might best suit.
Thanks!!!
Randal

Clannad Album ID?!? Help Please...! - Posted by mceyedol
I use to have a Clannad album copied onto tape from a library cd I rented when I was in my teens... I'm desperate to find the album on cd. I have no idea what the cover looks like or the tracklisting. I can remember one of the opening tracks was upbeatish.. sung in gaelic... (forgive my spelling)... with the chorus being something like:
"Knocka-anore a mora a mora, knocka-anore a mor, de hege du hesata, ????????, knocka-anore a mor." I can sing the tune as well...
Sorry I can't give you anymore to go on. The album was mixed with gaelic and english tracks. I can tell you that the hits like harrys game & robin hood were not on the album.
Any help would be grately received. Thanks in advance.
Michael xx

Magical Ring - Posted by noorman
Around 1983 I was able to buy my 1st CD-player.
Now I wanted to hear some nice digital stuff; I went to a nearby Hi-Fi shop that had a good range of CD's.
One of the first CD's I bought there was 'Magical Ring'.
I listened to it, in the shop, and I immediately fell in love with that incredible new sound. I 've always loved music, all kinds, pop & classical, but this Celtic stuff was something else; fresh, unplugged, a totally new atmosphere and clear, crisp recordings, nice voices and harmonies.
Just incredibly nice music that I couldn't leave in the shop.
Since then I 've been buying & listening Clannad; your music still changes my mood radically whenever I play it ! It makes the hairs on my arms stand on end !
I 'm sorry to say that I seem to have missed one CD however; the 1973 'Clannad' ...
I must remedy that soon !
I 've even bought a VHS cassette about Clannad years ago. I wanted to know more about 'the family' and I wanted some moving pictures ...
I 'm sorry to say that I 've never been able to see or buy the film 'The Angel & the Soldier Boy'. I have its music.
I 've been waiting for NEW Clannad material since the late nineties though ...
Anyway, I also must say I loved your contributions to 'the Last of the Mohicans' and 'Patriot Games' ! (the latter being the theme from 'Harry's Game' of course). ... ... ... ...
In suspence ...
