New posts Tour dates - Posted by Gwenivere
I am new to this website. How or where can I find tour dates for Clannad for the year 2008? I will have to make travel plans in advance in order to hear this wonderful group. I live in the USA, and know I will probably have to travel to Europe to catch a concert. Thanks!

New posts Touring in Portugal - Posted by Nuno
Hello, it's my first time at the forum, greetings to all Clannad followers from Portugal! I hope the 2008 tour could pass trough my country, because I love their music. Since I heard "Harry's Game" for the first time I've been hooked ever since! Many of our traditional music is very simillar to the Irish music (the celts were here before the roman conquest), and it's said that the bagpipe appeard in Iberian Peninsula before the celts reached Éire. So in the name of History, bring the Clannad tour to Portugal!! _______________________________________ Nuno

New posts Clannad concert in Brazil - Posted by aine_brazil
I´m Ana from São Paulo, Brazil. I confirm everything Nina has said and I´m sure a Clannad concert in Brazil would have a huge audience and would be a tremendous success. Is there anything we, Brazilian fans, could do to make this project come true?

My sons surprised me with tickets to the concert in Cardiff on 3rd March 2008. They know how much I love Clannad - my favourite group of all time. I am 53 and have lived music and, believe me, they are the tops. I saw Maire perform solo a couple of years ago (I was in front row) and she is amazing. Just read her autobiography if you want to be moved and inspired... If anyone intends attending Cardiff, let me know.

New posts Missing the concert! - Posted by Susan_t
Having been a Clannad fan for many years, I have been waiting for the opportunity to see them live. I was lucky enough to see Moya last year at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival which was just amazing! However, to see the whole group perform would just be something else! Unfortunately, I will be 8 months pregnant at the time of the tour and the nearest venue to me is Glasgow (i live outside Edinburgh). I simply can't go as my back is giving me problems and i can't face the travelling or the late night. I am gutted. does anyone know if there will be another tour sometime? I'm really hoping so.

New posts Live DVD...please?... - Posted by coffindodger
Is there, has there been, or is there the remote possibility of a live DVD or three being made available? If there are no prospective USA tours in the Great Southeast, the availability of live Clannad DVDs would help to ease my sadness... Thanks!

New posts Sage Gateshead - Posted by borokev
02/03/08 The concert at the The Sage Gateshead last night was excellent, anyone going to see a show on the UK tour enjoy. Had a couple of mistakes by band, but by end of the tour they will be back to their polished best (has been long time since playing together). Last saw Clannad in 1996, and were superb then. The Sage is a great venue for sound and comfort, but audience was a bit reserved. Got book that was on sale at the show signed by band, stated that they hope to have a new album out by the end of the year and a world tour planned.

I would just like to thank Clannad for an amazing concert performed at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. My father brought me up listening to your music and I'm thankful that, I at last got to see you all live. I am 27 and most of my friends have never heard of Clannad. Its nice to see that there are some decent bands still out there. Thank you again. Love Emma

It was really amazing experience to see Clannad on stage. They were so close, and Moya's voice was magical - as always. She looked like an angel playing on harp "Lady Marion", with one stream of light comming from the back of the stage. Clannad - thank you for this unforgettable concert.

Well, what an amazing night! Not only getting to hear songs I have loved for years sung live, but sung so beautifully. Then came the chance to meet the band, which I will never forget - Genuinely nice people who were taking time to talk to us rather than just signing stuff. All in all, I can't wait for the chance to see them again. Thanks for one of the best nights of my life, Clannad, and please don't leave it another 10 years before coming back to see us!!!! David PS - Happy birthday for yesterday, once again, Ciaran!!!!

New posts CD or DVD of UK tour? - Posted by Dab051176
Hi, Just wondered if anyone knows if there's going to be another "in Concert" CD (or better still, a DVD!) made during the current tour? I certainly could sit and watch or listen to it again and again. Bridgewater Hall on Tuesday night was just a magical experience.... Dave

Thanks for a magical evening - a chance walk along the seafront and a superb concert. Took me back 20 years - keep on touring, please, as it will bring your music to a new generation. It was a pitty that you were not playing to a full house. The warm up group, Safira?, were excellent, but I cannot find any info on them. Can anyone help?

My mum I and went to see Clannad last night and the concert as usual was absolutely brilliant. They may not have toured together as a group for 12 years but it is just as if they have never been away. I grew up with Clannads music and have been privileged to see them live several times in the past and have also seen Maire on tour as a solo artist - we can't wait until the "Next time". "THANK YOU CLANNAD" for such a wonderful evening and for providing such beautiful and inspirational music. please, please come back soon!!!!!!

New posts Clannad - London Palladium 9th March 2008 - Posted by jennifer
I went to the London Palladium and sat right at the front on the stage and God I am so glad I went to the concert, the band was brilliant. Moya sounded absolutely fantastic, they played all the tunes from their earlier albums and they sounded wonderful live. Brian Knnedy sang on " In a Lifetime" he was great. I liked Ciaran joke about seaweed and the Jamaicans, that made the audience laugh. But the highlight of my day was actually talking to the band afer the show. I gave each member of the band a hug. I was really nervous meeting Moya, but she was so nice and i 've got a picture of me and her together. I also want to say a big thanks to "Noodle" and and his Mum who I met after the concert and big hugs for giving me a copy of the new Clannad book. I was walking on air and you both showed a true friendship and love, guys if you are in the London area I'll buy the coffees.

New posts Concert Brighton Mon March 10th - Posted by Martina
We went to the concert at Brighton last night. It was fantastic ! I thank my lucky stars we went. I was moved to tears - of joy and excitement. For over 30 years I have loved listening to Clannad -and at last here I was sitting only a few feet away listening to them playing live! I can honestly say that my husband & I thought it was the best live performance we have been to. Everyone on stage looked like they were enjoying themselves so much.We felt that we were privy to a singalong in someones front room -how amazing. We sang -well tried to sing all the way home! Thankyou Clannad -come back soon.

New posts Just the best!!!! - Posted by toadi1
My wife & I were attending Bristol hospital in 2001, where she was receiving Chemo for Breast Cancer, I of cousre waited in the waiting room, where the WI were selling coffee/teas, videos, books & cds, I bought a Clannad CD (never heard of them), the next day I bought another, (cost £1 Each), I would have paid £1000 each, just brilliant. On Friday 7th March 2008, I took Di for a surprise to see Clannad live in Cardiff. Wow what a concert, if you get the chance just once, see them LIVE, I promise you will cry, we work late evenings in the office and have there cd's on full blast, if I were 'God fearing', which I am not, I would say God bless Clannad, thankyou so much for what you have given us. Much love Tony.

I'll be very happy if you will go to Poland. I know you don't have too much time, but your music is the best. I live in Szczecin, medium city in Poland and we don't have many good bands here. One Gealforce dance was here, but I couldn't go. I love irish culture and history but I am too young to go to Ireland, so I hope some of irish culture can come to me. I'm singing too, but nobody want to sing irish music with me, because they don't know it. We sing sea songs and sometimes we sing songs like irish.

New posts Clannad in Helsinki May 3rd 2008 -Finland says KIITOS!! - Posted by cantilena91
Just returned from Helsinki where I witnessed Clannad's very first (and hopefully NOT the last!) visit to Finland: Saturday, May 4: Up very early and off to the Oulu railway station to catch the InterCity train at 6.50AM! My second time travelling on Intercity train, the last time happened some 11 years ago! The 612-kilometre journey to Helsinki went off very well indeed as we did some sightseeing through the windows and also did some crossword puzzles together. Around 2PM we then arrived to sunny Helsinki, and took a small walk from railway station to our hotel which wasn't far away. After the check-in a very quick hamburger "lunch" and then back to our hotel room to get ready for the concert! As the concert venue is somewhat 4 km away from the hotel, we took a taxi instead of walking in order to save time. When we arrived to the concert place about 6.30PM, the venue was buzzing with people -something I did not quite expect to see but it was great to prove the "Clannad virtually unknown in Finland" myth completely wrong!! First we did the compulsory souvenir shopping; I scooped myself a black Clannad live t-shirt, a black Clannad cap, a concert poster, the new Live In Concert CD as well as the Clannad picture book. After the shopping spree on the concert hall lobby then we went to our seats at row 8, and for my sheer delight, I noticed that the venue was almost sold out! After listening to some Irish music through the loudspeakers then it was the time for the concert, which was in one part without intervals. Moya wore a long, white crochet-lace "coat" & black underdress, while Ciaran had his famous hat with him all the time! Moya did the first speak with the first word of Finnish (kiitos/thanks!) and the concert began. The setlist was as follows: 1. Newgrange (& Moya's speak "sorry that it took so long to come to Finland!") 2. Na Buachailli Alainn 3. Mhorag's Na Horo Gheallaigh (& Duggan's speak about a man who "drinks everything) 4. Ca Dé sin Do'n Té Sin 5. A Mhuirnin Ó (Another Duggan twin speak about the Great Famine and perunas, known in English as potatoes!) 6. Trail Of Tears (Ciaran & Moya speech) 7. Dulámán (slightly out of synchronisation in some places during the song but with very fabulous & rocking harp/Uilleann Pipes/drums solos!) 8. d'Tigeas A Damhsa a cappella (& another Duggan twin speech) 9. Tá Me Mo Shúi (great concertina, harmonica & harp melodies!) & Moya speech 10. Fairly Shot Of Her (with a great violin solo by Sinéad Madden!) & some dance (I did not pick up its title) After stormy applause Moya's speech again with singalong teaching for the next song ("C'mon! You can sing better than people in Norway!") 11. Two Sisters karaoke version 12. I Will Find You (The Last Of The Mohicans) & Ciaran's speech 13. Robin Medley (form Robin Hood e.g. Robin The Hooded Man, Herne The Hunter, Ancient Forest, Lady Marian) 14. Harry's Game (with a slight synchro problem in singing in the beginning) 15. In A Lifetime (solo vocals by Moya & ALL men of the band!) 16. Closer To Your Heart (Moya rocks & jams! Phenomenal sax solo & Moya joining the other harpist Cormac deBarra ) & Moya' band presentation Band: Moya (vocals/harps), Ciaran (bass, keys, acoustic guitar, vocals, percussion), Noel (acoustic guitars, vocals) & Padraig Duggan (Mandolin, acoustic guitar, vocals), Sinéad Madden (vocals, violin), Ian Parker (keys), Vinnie Kilduff (mandolin, whistle, Uilleann pipes), Cormac deBarra (harp & vocals), Ray Fean (drums & percussion) & possibly Mel Collins on sax & flutes (Sorry if some of the names are incorrect, but I did not catch the names properly!) After the thankyous: 17. Níl Sé'n Lá (with Moya dancing & Cormac singing too!) Stormy applause, musicians back on stage Encores: 18. Down By The Salley Gardens 19. Dance, Luasc & Téidhir Abhaíle Riú STANDING OVATION AT THE END!!! Then, it was the time to start the queueing! Mum fetched our coats first and then off to the queue! I had thought to buy one more item (polo shirt) for myself but alas, too late as everything from CDs to clothing and posters were sold out!!! I was among the last people to meet the Brennans (Moya & Ciaran) and the Duggans (Noel & Padraig) and I forgot to thank them in Gaelic because of my excitement!! Moya did not recognise me straight away, but with the help from me she remembered who I was, though I had to spell out my name for the CD/book signings! A couple of photos with Moya, and when I revealed that I had travelled 612 kilometres to see Clannad, everybody seemed to be quite amazed by that! Then a couple of photo shoots with the Clannad boys (Ciaran & the Duggans), I gave Moya my gifts (2 Oulu brochures and 2 self-sewn cross-stitched bookmarks, one with "Moya" & a Celtic harp decoration and another with "Clannad", both on Celtic font), and it was time to say goodbye. Thanks for blowing me the kiss, Moya!! No wonder I was over the moon all that evening and didn't go to sleep until very late after midnight...! Once again, my deepest thanks to the whole Clannad concert crew, this is something unforgettable so please please do come back to Finland at some point! And Moya, if you read this, please feel free to forward one of the "Oulu" brochures to Leo's as I forgot to ask you to do so!!!! Kisses from Suvi & Mum Liisa from city of Oulu, Finland

New posts NEW CONCERTS IN POLAND THIS SUMMER - Posted by yetino
Clannad is embarking on a small tour in Poland giving two shows. First one will be held at Opera Lesna (Forest Opera) in Sopot on 20th July. Sopot is a well-known summer resort famous for its annual Song Festival. It is a small, lovely full of vibe town especially in the summer. You may come to Sopot for a few days - to enjoy sunbathing on a nice beach plus visiting nearby old city of Gdansk and certainly seeing Clannad live. Forest Opera which will be the venue can accommodate quite many people so shouldn't be a problem to get a ticket on a day of the concert. Yet, I'd rather buy it through internet in advance. Flying to Poland from UK is easy. Sopot is near Gdansk Airport - both Ryanair and Wizzair offer everyday flights from Stansted, Luton and other airports. Check their webpages. See you in Poland this summer.

New posts Clannad Live in Sosnowiec, Poland - Posted by Artur
On September 7, 2008 Clannad took part as a star in Euroszanty & Folk Festival in Sosnowiec, Poland. It was a great evening with Moya's beautiful voice and the Clannad's excellent music. It was my first connert of Clannad, but I will remember it for all my days! The Robin of Sherwood medley, In A Lifetime, I Will Find You, Two Sisters any many other songs and melodies were very warmly accepted by the publicity. I hope Clannad will visit Poland again. Many thanks for such an excellent music journey as took place in Sosnowiec last Sunday.

I've been loving clannad music since a long time but I've never had the possibility to see them on tour. I know it will be quiet hard to see the in concert here, but is there any kind of musical event in Italy that they are going to attend? That would be a dream come true!
