Moya interview - Posted by Nicola
I've just heard part one of a wonderful Clannad special, Past Present, created by Mandy Morton and broadcast on her Eclectic Light Show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. This week's programme was an interview with Moya which Mandy did fifteen years ago, and part two brings things up to date with a new interview done just ahead of the recent Palladium gig.
Part one is available on-line as a listen again feature at www.bbc.co.uk/cambridgeshire - click on Listen Again and scroll down to Eclectic Light Show - and part two is on Wednesday at 7pm - same web address, and a listen again feature for seven days after that.
It's a wonderful piece of radio - really candid and warm - and well worth a listen. Can't wait for part two.

Any shows in Ireland April 5-12 2008? - Posted by Bobo
We are couple of major fans from the USA and will be traveling in the UK and Ireland later this month and into April. We would love to catch a show and see this great band. Not sure if these guys show up in local pubs or if they only do the big time stuff. Here in the US....musicians have been known to show up at their local haunts without a lot of publicity.
Hoping to get lucky I guess.
By the way....we are NOT and NEVER have been supporters of BUSH. Good changes are coming soon :)

Trying to locate/identify song - Posted by cathien
Hello! Back in late 2004, I was over at a friends house and was listening to a Clannad CD. There was a very intriguing song on. It had a soft wispering voice in the background, but also jungle-type sounds towards the end of the song. Does anyone know which song this might be and which CD I might find it on? I know this information is very limited, but this is all I have. The CD was a "copy" of another with no information other than "Clannad" written on the front.
Thanks!

Pride of our Land - Posted by etrose
Do you have any information on a song written by Padraig Duggan from the group Clannad, called "Pride of our Land." The song was performed in the movie Patriot Games....during a bar scene with Ken O'Malley. I have contacted him and he gave me the song title and writers information which has led me to you.
Is there anywhere to buy this song or album if it is on one.
Thank you,

So you understand my question, I come from the other side of the world. New Zealand. Absolutely Love your music, and also yours Moya, think I have every album produced, but I have never had the pleasure to see yous all preform live, it would be a dream come true. So me and my partner, who introduced me to Clannad many years ago, plan to go on a holiday overseas just to see you preform, so I really need to know where and when you will be preforming live over the next couple months. Robin Hood music where is? - Posted by gary
Hello All !!! Does everyone remember this jaw-dropping series? For 20 years now, I've been trying to find how to obtain the music from that riviting show - specifically, all the different [and very perfect] pieces we heard in the second season, when Jason Connery took over. Why does that "Legend" album have only the score from the first half of the series? And, where is it possible to obtain, somehow, the second-half score? - ALL of IT! I hope someone here knows. Thanx.

Theme from Harry's Game - Posted by sassanach
Sorry if this is a daft question, but is there any other title that the group might have given to this very beautiful song, the lyrics of which have a deep esoteric meaning to those who know?
'Theme from Harry's Game' doesn't quite do it justice, IMHO.

YouTube won't let us use your music! - Posted by Lindybeige
Dear Clannad,
I bought your first album many years ago, and when I was fifteen I made a film on silent Super-8mm film in a friend's back garden. When I was filming it, I had in my mind a particular track of yours. When it was finished, I used to project it in our front room, and then work the turn table of the family record player, playing your music, and some other music of the period.
Now I have converted my old films to video, and have been trying to show them again to people on YouTube but alas! Warner Brothers Music has forbidden my video because it uses an extract from one of your tracks. YouTube has a facility for getting music approved, so would it be possible for you to contact them officially saying some thing like "While our band may get annoyed that people just shamelessly pirate our music and videos and post them in complete form where they are public available in high quality for free, we have no objection to people's using extracts and samples of our music as background sound for original videos which are then posted in compressed low quality on video sharing sites such as YouTube. If a fifteen year old boy twenty years ago used a bit of one of our tracks to add atmosphere to a film he made, then we are happy that his appreciation of our work is made public, and see little to be gained from spoiling the fun of YouTube in general. Other artists get plenty of publicity from YouTube, and we don't see why we should be left out because of this dispute" or something? You may not agree with all that I just wrote, but perhaps you could express some similarly moderate opinion that would make it possible for the video-sharing people of the world to share their appreciation of your music on-line, without of course enabling them to distribute free copies of high-quality complete tracks. The sample of your music I used exists today on a twenty-year old hissy tape, and I cannot imagine anyone's lifting it to listen to in any other context than my film, nor considering it a sufficient substitute for a proper recording of a complete track of yours.

Using Clannad music on YouTube - Posted by chuck9toe
Hello,
I made a video that has had it's audio deleted. This is a video of photographic artwork that used a Clannad song...the perfect song for this...with credits given and this is not a money making video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WsF8eUYX1E&feature=channel_page
Maybe you might reconsider and let me use the song?

Hello, from the states! To say that I am a much devoted fan of your music, for lo these many years, would be an understatement. What a fortunate day this has turned out to be, what with finding your website (I honestly had no idea) and being able to post on it; truly too awsome!!! I am an amateur poet, and I post my work on "Poetry Soup" should you care to browse my humble offerings. I hope, someday, that I get the opportunity to see you in concert, but for now I will cetainly settle for your live album. Finally, may I say "Thank-you" for all of the years of your hauntingly refreshing music- What an awsome group you are!!!!

visceral response - Posted by johncrane
While I was long accustomed to tne melodies, harmonies and arrangements of this unique group of people, I was a was somewhat taken aback by the response of a couple of German Shorthair mixes that I found myself in charge of. Not just the calming effect but the foot motion to not the beat but to the melody.
Has anyone else observed this or am I just that much closer to the nice jacket that ties in the back.

Such wonderful music! - Posted by EilidhM
Just wanted to say hello and tell you how much I love your music. Have been a fan for many, many years and saw you perform in a small venue in Boulder, Colorado (USA) in the 80's (could have been early 90's, but think it was late 80's). Maire, your voice touches my soul, and the harmonies you all have with each other are simply perfection and oh so beautiful. Your music is so haunting at times, yet calming at the same time, and it brings me so much joy, peace and happiness. Thanks for the great music and I hope to see you in concert again some day.

Stroke the Putt - Posted by servers9
Stroke the Putt
Practicing along with your eyes closed is a great way to retrain your entire system along with golf clubs store imagination to have employed to producing smooth, pendulum-like placing strokes. In case you want, go ahead along with set up above a golf ball with the callaway x-22 irons at the exercise green. Read the putt, judge the distance, then close your entire eyes along with stroke the putt. Then open your entire eyes along with judge the final results. Retain practicing until it is possible to gauge the length from the putt along with your taylormade r9 fairway wood eyes closed. This will, in turn, aid train the system to recognize how tough to stroke a putt by varying lengths by the hole.
Now, let¡¯s find down for the natty gritty. Most fantastic putters have a relatively solid setup, which in our status, means starting for the ball in a comfortable along with taylormade burner superlaunch irons athletic position. Inside the photo above, observe this handful of important things: The ball is positioned slightly forward of center. This will aid me catch the ball on a slight incline, thus helping the ball roll quicker with ping g15 driver the end-over-end roll. Thank you... - Posted by fyrefay55
Dear Clannad,
I want to thank you for so many years of lovely, haunting music. The songs POISON GLEN, NEWGRANGE, and HARRY'S GAME, not to mention the music you did for "Robin of Sherwood" stays ever in my heart.
Thank you for the music
the long shivery sounds
evoking a deep yesterday
where the Old Ones danced around us,
filling us full of so many things
wonder among them, making us want to dance
be part of the eternal beauty of
deep and mystic magic
that is music
that is life
that is the wondering eyes of children
seeing everything new.
In a single mote of sound,
a single harmony
brings us shivering echoes of the past
the people that were bound to the land
and the land, to them.
Amergin's song echoes
calling for stillness
calling for song,
calling for celebration.
This is what you have done:
making the unseen visible
with the heart
through complex melody
with soaring harmonies
taking me to wing--
all of us hear
and all of us sing.
Thank you for that.
Thank you for the magic you bring.
Peace, Tina
