What does the song "Mheall si lena glorthai me" mean? - Posted by SeanSeanMiniChonal
Dia duit,
I'm trying to translate this great old song into English, but haven't half enough Irish yet.
I was told as a child that this song was about a beautiful young woman, a man from Gweedore, and lost love around Rann na Feirste.Maybe this rings a bell with Leo agus Baba?
Would anyone take the time to translate it for me please?
Thanks a million,
Seanie

RE: Learning Irish - Posted by ancupola
Kia Ora and greetings from New Zealand. I am of mixed Maori - Irish background and am struck by the similarities in the histories of both peoples. It is fair to say that both the Maori and Irish people have suffered a loss of culture and heritage because of the same cause. I regret not knowing any Irish language as it was the language of my late grand mother. I make sure that my daughter is fluent in Te Reo Maori and encourage all Irish people and those with access to Irish lessons to make sure they you as much of the beautiful language as is possible. If your language is lost it is now only you who are to blame. I went to Ireland recently and was shocked with the lack of spoken Irish don't take your heritahe for granted! Solidarity!

how could I learn gallic? - Posted by Lealou
I'd like to know how i could learn gallic. I found out this language a few months ago only, in listening a song of Clannad. I loved and I wanted to know the meaning of the songs. I try but it is very difficult for me. i'm fond of Clannad and I've many translations of the songs but I'm french and not really good in english. further more, for some songs, translations are different, for exemple (alasdair mac colla). I know gallic isn't used enough in Ireland, but in France, nobody knows! Unfortunately, I don't find dictionnary, books about gallic. I would like to be ready, at least, know a few words because after the high school ( bac en France, I'm 15), I want to travel a lot, and study in ireland. May I have advices please?

Liza Clannad Video - Posted by oirialla
Would anyone have a copy of the Clannad video for Liza saved. It was on Youtube a few years ago at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4U3Rn5D7XM
but it is no longer there, it seems to be deleted.
It is an Irish Language song and the video would be good to show to school children, it was a cartoon video with the Beatles in it amongst others and was very enjoyable.
If any one has it is there any chance you could put it up on youtube, or inform us of it here and pass it on. Any help would be much appreciated.
Go raibh maith agat.

Personnels on records - Posted by Matti
Dear Friends over there
Where could one find information about who is playing what on every track. Of course I am able to hear Moya´s divine voice, but being exact type of freak, I would like to know player of every instrument on every track...sorry I already have the most part of your official recordings...especially the older material.
I have also another request...don´t you ever stop playing...and please, for the next visit in Finland let me know, I missed the last gig...I do NOT want it to happen again.
Bless You
